This is an exciting new position as we expand our broadcast network. The primary responsibilities of the Program Director are executing the mission and vision of the radio station through the station’s content and managing the staff connected to the creation of that content. The Program Director will oversee the daily operations, supervise personnel, and be responsible for overall broadcast programming.
The Program Director will: Create, implement and manage the sound, music, image, brand and standards of the station through all platforms to reach and exceed goals for ratings, revenue and success; Manage the full and part time WNRN Programming staff and maintain a healthy, helpful relationship with all departments in the station; Work with the programming staff to develop and maintain the most innovative and unique programming for our diverse audiences and communities; Meet with the programming staff weekly; Evaluate, direct and provide constructive feedback to all on-air hosts to improve performance and maintain continuity with regular air checks with on-air staff; Meet regularly with other departments to develop and enhance client relationships, ensure cross-promotion of content on all platforms and development of contests, help produce and improve the on-air presentation of membership campaigns and reinforcement of the membership element in all programming year-round. Manage internal metrics such as Nielsen along with outside research contractors to analyze the information that informs the complete audience profile.
Minimum Qualifications of Position
- Five years of programming and management service or equivalent.
- High school diploma or GED.
Additional Qualifications of the Position
- Experience in and understanding of digital and/or on-air broadcast hosting and ability to lead by example
- Experience with MusicMaster and Wide Orbit or equivalent
- Familiarity with Radio Traffic/Marketron or equivalent
- Experience specifically with on-air hosting and co-hosting during fundraising periods
- Strong leadership and motivational skills
- Possession of excellent management and communication skills and an ability to work in a highly collaborative environment
- Experience with and knowledge of music formats with an emphasis on AAA and Americana, and an understanding of Blues, Bluegrass and Jam Bands
- Understanding of the non-profit mission while operating with a strong business focus
- Ability to represent WNRN’s interest to partners, communities, national organizations and other public service organizations.
- Salary $70,000 with full benefit package including health, dental, vision, life and disability insurance and retirement plan.
