Weekend Sports Anchor/MMJ
WAVY-TV 10, FOX 43 and WAVY.com is looking for a dynamic and engaging journalist to cover sports in the Norfolk, Virginia market. The ideal candidate will be a newsroom leader who provides content for all our platforms as well as help us expand our dominate position in local sports.
As a sports anchor/MMJ you will join a dedicated team that puts a premium on covering local sports and athletes through unique and creative storytelling. You will be a big part of producing a growing list of sports programing including The FOX43 Sportswrap, The Washington Huddle and the legendary Friday Night Flights. You will also assist us in growing and evolving our sports coverage in the digital age.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to…
- Anchor sports news in traditional newscasts as well as on digital platforms
- Shoot, write and edit sports stories
- Produce sportscasts and sports-related programs
- Write and post stories to WAVY.com
- Report live from sporting events and community events
- Develop sources in the local sports community to break stories
- Maintain robust social media presence
- Work closely with newsroom management to plan and communicate sports coverage
