Virginia television broadcasters’ license renewal applications are due on June 1, 2020. For those broadcasters operating (i) a silent station or (ii) a TV translator not being renewed with the primary station being rebroadcast, local public notice of the translator or station’s renewal filing in a daily, weekly, or biweekly newspaper of general circulation in the community must follow as soon as possible after the translator’s renewal application is filed. (Note that the FCC is currently considering whether to alter its local public notice requirements; however, it is unlikely that the requirements would be revised in time to affect Virginia television stations’ renewal filings.)
